Car theory exam
Is hazard perception still part of the CBR theory exam?
Short answer: the separate part has gone, but spotting hazards is still in the exam.

What changed?
Since 7 April 2025 the car theory exam has been a single part of 50 questions in 30 minutes. You need 44 correct. The old separate hazard perception part with photo questions has gone.
Is spotting hazards still tested?
Yes. The exam includes questions about traffic situations, some with short animations. You judge what is about to happen and how you respond. Brake, ease off or do nothing: you can still get that choice.
How to practise
- Watch for what you cannot see yet but can expect: a child behind a parked van, a car pulling out of a parking space.
- In every situation ask yourself: do I brake now, is easing off enough, or can I carry on?
- Practise with moving situations, like the practice questions below.
